My phone just told me that there is supposed to be a MN Wild hockey game tonight on TV. Normally I’d be super excited about this but not this time. Actually - it makes me one sad panda. Most people don’t know but there is a NHL lockout going on right now.
I guess the media (outside of ESPN, Fox Sports, etc) just doesn’t think its “news-worthy” Maybe the media has been too focused on the Obama “truths” (aka lies) or worrying about replacement refs in the NFL? (oh yeah – there is another post brewing there too)
Before the hate mail starts – yes, I know that there are other things going on in the world and hockey is not a priority! (although in our house – hockey is definitely a priority! )
I get the fact that NHL players don’t make nearly the money that other professional athletes play but they make a hell of a lot more than most Americans make. Owners stop being so damn greedy and pay the players what they are worth. It’s time for the players and owners to work out some agreement and hit the ice. They have already cancelled the NHL pre-season games.
However , its not just the players that are impacted by this. The fans and most importantly – the local businesses that depend on the traffic/sales from the hockey season getting underway!
So – let’s make this happen so we can drop the puck next month!
In the interim I‘m just thankful for U of MN hockey – can’t wait to watch the boys in maroon and gold.
