Who is my inspiration?
Lots of different people have inspired me over the years depending on the situation – there has been teachers, community leaders, friends, etc. Of course, my husband and daughters inspire me greatly. However there is one person that has continued to inspire me on a regular basis over the years …
My grandmother, Pearl aka MawMaw has been a major source of inspiration ever since I was a little girl.
My mother wasn’t the best role model for us growing up. She had some mental health issues that she refused to deal with and that caused lots of problems.
It made life VERY difficult some days.
However, It was Maw Maw that made everything better. From making special desserts just because to just calling and checking on us.She is always there for me no matter the time or day.
My grandmother is an amazing woman. She left home at 19 , married an Army man and moved across the country. During my grandfather’s 33 years Army career – she endured various deployments , PCS moves and even the death of a child while her husband was in Korea, unable to come home. She handled it all with grace and strength as well as not taking anyone’s BS in the process.
My grandmother is still an inspiration to me (always will be) and I strive each and every day to be just like her. I hope that one day I will be.
